TRIATHLON and FlyECO take a step forward with joint workshop

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration across the hydrogen aviation ecosystem, the TRIATHLON and FlyECO projects are taking a concrete step forward.

The two Horizon Europe initiatives will come together for a dedicated bilateral workshop on 15 July in Eindhoven, bringing partners from both consortia into an exchange on hydrogen-powered and hydrogen‑electric propulsion technologies.

Connecting complementary expertise

Both projects contribute to the development of next-generation aviation solutions, addressing different but highly complementary aspects of hydrogen propulsion.

TRIATHLON focuses on advancing hydrogen powertrain solutions with emphasis on thermodynamics, storage, and thermal management, while FlyECO explores integrated propulsion system architectures combining hydrogen technologies and electrification to optimise overall system performance.

Bringing these perspectives together creates an opportunity to connect component-level innovation with system-level integration.

A targeted step towards alignment

The upcoming workshop will provide a dedicated space for technical exchange and alignment, focusing on key aspects such as hydrogen propulsion technologies, system integration and architecture, and thermal management and energy optimisation. Beyond the technical discussion, the exchange aims to identify synergies and opportunities for further collaboration.

Contributing to a more connected ecosystem

Closer interaction between projects like TRIATHLON and FlyECO supports a more coordinated approach to innovation, helping to reduce fragmentation and maximise the impact of EU-funded research activities.

More updates and insights from the collaboration will follow after the workshop.
